Archery

Carter competed in the State Archery Tournament early Saturday morning.  He practiced every Friday morning at 6:30 am.  I call that dedication!  Archery is a great sport because anyone can participate and everyone goes to the State tournament. Plus you get lots of great free stuff...  Carter was awesome and is learning how to shoot under pressure.  When I asked him how he felt about his performance he said it was great "except for the hundreds of people watching me!"  I actually think everyone was too busy watching their own kids to notice anyone else.  There were about 50 kids competing at the same time.  This was repeated every hour all day.

Ryan competed with the Wasatch High School team.  Unfortunately their flight wasn't scheduled until 4 pm.  Ryan graciously told us he would be fine if we weren't there to watch him, sparing us from waiting at the convention center for 7 hours.  Ryan loved riding the bus to the tournament and hanging out with his teammates.  If there are people involved Ryan is always happy.  Ryan also did a great job and was satisfied with his score.  He is a great optimist.  He told me "I did great for a beginner."  I love his attitude!  The high school won the tournament so Ryan with his team got to ride on top of the fire truck down Main Street.  It was cold and dark but Ryan had a great time. Some friends of ours took pictures of Ryan at the tournament.  I'll post them as soon as I get them.

Winter recital

Bethany had her winter dance recital last week.  She was so excited to perform and just as excited to wear stage makeup!  She did a fantastic job.  I'm glad that she has this opportunity to grow in confidence and poise.  Dancing has always been a stressful experience for me so I'm happy that Bethany enjoys it and feels good about her abilities.  Carter and Ryan were reluctant to go to the recital at first because dance is "girl stuff" but they were full of compliments for Bethany when she finished.  I love that my children can support each other.
