Great Friends

Bethany, Carter and Ryan have been great friends this spring.  They enjoy playing outside, role playing, and just rough housing in general.  Of course someone eventually gets hurt ...

Bethany was sick last Sunday, so Ryan and Carter made her a soft bed and stocked her up with books before they left for church.  What kind brothers!

One of their favorite games is to slide down the stairs on blankets.  Even more exciting is when Ryan pulls Carter and Bethany down the stairs!

Wishes

I wish it was spring!  Since it's not, I'm consoling myself by wearing lots of pink.  It's my favorite happy color.  I love yellow and tangerine too, but I can't pull that off...  In honor of spring I made my first craft from pinterest.  Or actually my first craft in years!  I'm not that crafty but this looked so easy and festive that I actually went and bought the supplies at Walmart and made it the same day.  I am quite proud of myself.  Hopefully it will last out the month.  When I warned the kids that the Easter Bunny would not bring them any candy if they picked at my centerpiece, Bethany in exasperation said, "Mom you have no control over the Easter Bunny!"  To which Carter replied that moms have connections...

It was spirit week at Bethany's school last week.  Bethany got to dress up in some way every day.  It was a dream come true for her!  Cowboy/cowgirl day was her favorite.   She was so cute and confident.   She had her outfit planned days ahead of time and wore it all weekend. On Sunday when I reminded her to get dressed for Church she announced, "I will, but not until right before, because I look sooo cute!"  On Wednesday Bethany got to dress up as her favorite character from a book.  She choose to dress up in our egyptian princess costume because to paraphrase Bethany, "Surely there is a book about Cleopatra somewhere."  We love that Bethany enjoys dressing up, she is full of fun and sparkle!

Archery

Carter has been involved with his school's archery club this winter.  He got up early every Tuesday and Thursday to go to practice before school started.  All his hard work paid off and Carter was selected to go to the state tournament.  We traveled down to Salt Lake this morning to watch him shoot.
Carter did very well and even shot a 10X which is basically a bull's eye.  We are proud of his hard work and good sportsmanship!

Dancing Day

Bethany started taking jazz and ballet last fall and has loved it! Every Thursday she jumps out of the van and runs to class.  She has loved making new friends and wearing her cute leotards.  Bethany's first recital was on February 4th.  Her class danced to the song "Hey Baby".  She's been so excited I thought I needed to help her have reasonable expectations for her performance.  We talked about how performing in front of an audience takes practice and that the most important thing was to have fun.  I needn't have worried, Bethany was fantastic!  She was a confident and happy little dancer.  It was fun to watch her do something that brought her so much joy.  I was actually a bit surprised that she did so well because I have two left feet...  Bethany told me afterwards that her favorite part was wearing red lipstick and having curly hair.  I think I'm going to have to hide the lipstick!

Shoulder Angels

Camille showed us Divine Comedy's skit, "Shoulder Angel".  We were rolling, it was so funny!

Of course Bethany and Carter had to do their own shoulder angels.
We're thankful that we have such a fun and patient Dad at our house!
